She helped me identify realistic goals that fit my lifestyle, as well as find healthy boundaries with food (learning about counting macros has encouraged me to enjoy foods of all kinds without feeling guilty or overindulging!). Jackie’s Story:

“The thought of working with a personal trainer frightened me, but I knew I needed to work with someone who would understand my disabilities, limitations, fears and even embarrassment. You see, I was an athletic person and it brought me so much joy, but 10 years ago my life changed. I started a life of chronic pain. I had 4 discs in my lower back go out on me which lead me down the road of 8 surgeries in 8 years and being told there is nothing they can do for me to give me my life back. My body became weak, my coordination went away, my range of motion was limited and my chronic pain was always a reminder of the person I was no longer.

Sam was the type of trainer I needed. She took the time to talk with me and truly understood what my desires were in this new journey, what my physical limitations were, and she made sure she communicated with my pain specialist on the type of rehabilitation planned for me. I appreciated the energy Sam put into designing a personal plan for me. She knew I didn’t have a gym membership and had limited equipment at home. Sam didn’t give me a generic plan. Sam really took the time to customize one that was just for me and if I was having a problem with a certain area, she would be right there figuring it out with me.  I love the weekly check ins and the personal communication that Victorious Athletics offers their clients. Micah’s Story:

“I started working with Sam when I was a new father. Through my wife’s pregnancy, I put exercise on the back burner and by the time we had our son, it was really starting to show. The most fitting expression I can think of is “dad bod.”

I had an issue with over indulging in all food and alcohol and justified it by formulating workouts for myself with little to no knowledge of what my body needed. I also struggled with consistency, where I would make an exercise regimen and never stick to it for more than a week. In college, I worked out a lot with no guidance I put form and balance on the back burner. I was feeling it.

When I started working with Sam, she was professional, courteous, confidential and non judgmental. When we met to talk about training, she had me perform a few exercises to see my form and within a few days got a regimen together for me and gave me guidelines on lifting, cardio, sleep, caloric intake and water consumption. After a few days, I realized how out of balance my body had become. She had me work on my form before lifting a bunch of weight into the air and I realized that I had been doing a lot of exercises with improper form for a while. We stressed form and balance over weight until I felt confident enough to progress. Even within a few weeks, I started to feel and see a difference. Holding my son for long periods of time and getting up off of the floor after playing with him was no longer a challenge. Clothes fit me easier. I wasn’t getting winded when walking up a hill. I was hungrier but she walked me through the right ways to nourish my body and recover from the exercises.

If you’re looking for a trainer, I highly recommend Sam and anyone she refers you to. Even if you’re not looking for a trainer, I recommend changing your mind and talking to Sam. You will not regret it. I can see myself working with her for a long time.”

Nikki’s Story:

“I've been training with Sam from Victorious Athletics for 6 weeks now. Before working with her I was not feeling myself. I stopped weight training for almost 6 months when my work schedule changed. I had gained a few extra pounds but more so, my energy level had just dropped. I knew I needed guidance getting back to the gym, but it felt like starting over.
